▶Objectives
The ClimateFarming project aimed to make agricultural enterprises more climate-resilient by developing and implementing consultation concepts focused on climate adaptation and mitigation. The project’s central goal was to equip farmers with the knowledge and tools needed to adopt sustainable and regenerative cultivation methods. To support this transformation, VET educators, agricultural advisors, and trainers were trained to effectively assist farmers in applying climate-smart strategies. Another key objective was to raise awareness among policymakers and VET authorities to integrate ClimateFarming concepts into curricula and agricultural policies. The project also aims to raise awareness of the need to adapt to climate change at national and European level and to highlight the benefits of climate-resilient farming. By fostering knowledge exchange, professional qualification, and political dialogue, ClimateFarming aimed to drive long-term change. Ultimately, the project sought to establish climate adaptation as an integral part of agricultural education and practice, modernizing VET and strengthening cooperation across sectors.
▶Activities
The project was implemented through 5 work packages that combined practical fieldwork, training, digital tools, and dissemination engagement. A solid coordination structure ensured smooth collaboration among partners. A detailed project management handbook was developed, and a digital collaboration platform was set up. In the next phase, we created the ClimateFarming consultation materials. This included the development of materials, curricula to guide farmers in applying climate adaptation and mitigation strategies. A Train-the- Trainer programme was implemented to prepare farm advisers, and trainers as Agents, ensuring they could pass on the acquired knowledge effectively. In the implementation phase, applying the developed consultation and training tools on demonstration farms across partner countries. These on-farm activities involved vulnerability analyses, soil assessments, the development of an individual adaptation strategy for each partner farm and the implementation of correspondent climate adaptation measures, and practical farmer workshops. The ClimateFarming Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), made all developed materials accessible for self-study. Throughout the project, dissemination activities were carried out.
▶Impact
The ClimateFarming project delivered concrete and impactful results to enhance climate resilience in agriculture. A central output was the ClimateFarming Consultation Framework, including tools and guidelines to support farmers in implementing climate adaptation and mitigation strategies. A Train-the-Trainer curriculum and a Trainer Handbook were developed and used to educate VET trainers, advisers, and educators as Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Agents. These professionals now support farmers in transitioning to sustainable practices. A major achievement was the creation of the ClimateFarming Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), an accessible online platform with all training materials and tools for self-learning. Practical implementation took place on partner farms, resulting in analysis reports, workshop handouts, and a Farmer Handbook. Dissemination activities such as awareness campaigns and multiplier events targeted policy makers, educational institutions, and agricultural stakeholders at both national and EU levels. The project fostered knowledge exchange and laid the foundation for the wider adoption of climate-resilient agriculture.
