▶Objectives
The RE-CREW project aimed to enhance the recruitment practices of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by providing practical tools, training, and resources tailored to their unique needs. The project sought to address specific challenges such as the lack of structured hiring processes, weak employer branding, and limited integration of diversity, workplace well-being, and corporate social responsibility into recruitment strategies. The primary objectives included developing the Digital Assessment Tool (DAT) for self-evaluating recruitment practices, creating a multilingual training curriculum to guide SMEs in implementing innovative HR strategies, and providing an Open Guide for VET Trainers to support effective training delivery. Additionally, the project aimed to foster collaboration between SMEs and VET providers, ensuring the long-term sustainability and scalability of its outputs. By achieving these objectives, RE-CREW contributed to empowering SMEs to attract and retain talent, modernize workforce management, and promote sustainable and inclusive recruitment practices, ultimately enhancing their resilience and competitiveness in a dynamic labor market.
▶Activities
Research and Analysis (WP2): Conducted desk research, surveys, and interviews with 39 SMEs and 84 stakeholders across partner countries. This identified recruitment challenges and informed the development of the Digital Assessment Tool (DAT) and training curriculum. Development of Tools and Resources (WP3): Designed and piloted the multilingual Digital Assessment Tool (DAT), a self-assessment platform for SMEs, and developed a four-module training curriculum on recruitment strategies, workplace well-being, CSR, and company branding. Sustainability and Scalability (WP4): Created the Open Guide and Toolkit for VET Trainers, facilitated learning activities in Slovenia, and ensured long-term use through a Sustainability and Exploitation Plan. Dissemination and Outreach (WP5): Conducted over 100 multilingual social media posts, published 24 articles, and organized six dissemination workshops and an international online event to engage 315 stakeholders, including SMEs, HR professionals, and VET trainers. Evaluation and Feedback: Piloted the outputs with 166 participants across partner countries, collecting feedback to refine tools and ensure their practical relevance.
▶Impact
The RE-CREW project delivered impactful outputs to support SMEs in improving recruitment practices and workforce management. A Research Outcomes Report analyzed SME recruitment challenges, forming the basis for practical tools. The Digital Assessment Tool (DAT) enabled SMEs to self-assess recruitment practices, offering real-time feedback and actionable insights. Fully translated into seven languages, the DAT was piloted with 160 SMEs, refining usability and functionality. The multilingual training curriculum, hosted on an e-learning platform, featured four modules on recruitment strategies, workplace well-being, CSR, and organizational identity. Tested by 167 participants, feedback ensured relevance and usability. The Open Guide and Toolkit for VET Trainers provided methodologies and case studies to enhance SME training. Dissemination included 100+ social media posts, 24 articles, six workshops engaging 129 participants, and an international event with 117 attendees. A Sustainability and Exploitation Plan outlined long-term integration into SME frameworks, supported by a five-year commitment to maintain the DAT and training platform. A forthcoming open-access book will further share findings.
