โ–ถObjectives

The GREENWELD project aimed to integrate green skills into European welding qualifications, aligning them with European frameworks like GreenComp and DigComp, ISO 14001 and 45001, Environmental Management Systems, and Occupational Health and Safety Systems, ensuring a comprehensive approach to sustainable practices. Also, aimed to create innovative training curricula and resources for green skills, bridging the gap between education and industry, modernizing welder training and promoting sustainability, making it more engaging and environmentally conscious. As part of the project, pilot courses were conducted in Denmark, Greece, and Spain. The pilots provided an opportunity to test and validate the new curricula and training resources, ensuring they met the needs of both trainees and industry/workers. After the pilots, participants were awarded European Green Welding Certificates, recognizing their new skills and establishing a standard for sustainable welding training. The project intended to support European and national priorities by addressing skills gaps in the welding sector, encouraging green and digital transitions, and enhancing the attractiveness and relevance of vocational education and training.

โ–ถActivities

GREENWELD project ran for 24 months implementing various activities to achieve its aims and milestones, as follows: MS1Needs analysis included a) desk research to align with relevant EU frameworks;b) 71 surveys to collect insights from industry and Education;c) a Roundtable with 43 experts to validate the insights and set the plan integrating green skills into curricula. MS2 Pilot activities to implement/test training resources, including a capacitation workshop for competence units design with learning outcomes; the new CUs introducing green skills; the development of new training materials and Train the Trainers to test them. MS3 Awarding digital Green Welding Certificates โ€“ more than125 Record of Achievement issued with the stamp of GREENWELD, aligned with the requirements of the EWF system, allowing these to be automatically recognized, at EU level, as soon as the CUs are integrated into the system. MS4 EU Final Conference - collecting insights from stakeholders (62 EU + 71 NME). Over 190 dissemination activities implemented, closely monitored by Quality Management and Project Management to ensure quality performance throughout the process.

โ–ถImpact

GREENWELD project delivered a range of significant outputs and results: A Needs Analysis Report mapping green skills gaps in the European Welders qualifications, alignment with relevant European frameworks for industry (ISO standards) and education (GreenComp and DigComp) and a European-level focus group for validation; Revision of the European Welders Qualification and development of 2 new competence units (CUs) using a learning outcomes approach; A user guide to support the new CUs implementation by VET centers; 6 handbooks, digital presentations, and exam questions produced and translated into national languages for welders' training programs. A report documented the development and adaptation, validated through capacity-building for trainers; Pilots conducted in 3 countries, with feedback collected and analyzed in an evaluation report including conclusions and recommendations from trainers and trainees; 4 national multiplier events and a European Final Conference ensuring stakeholders engagement; Project Website, social media page and a dissemination portfolio was developed, including flyers, roll-up videos, e-newsletters, press releases, articles and posters at international conferences.
