The main objective of UpCare was to train social care professionals to better support parents in primary school communities, helping to prevent future gender-based violence. Through this, we aimed to break cycles of gender stereotypes and violence, establish a replicable training model, and strengthen municipal social services. Additionally, the project sought to assess changes in professionals’ attitudes before and after training and create a structured approach that municipalities could integrate into their gender equality action plans.

We applied for the UpCare project to address the need for upskilling social care professionals in providing counseling to parents of primary school children. This initiative aimed to prevent gender-based violence by tackling stereotypes early in childhood. In both Greece and Spain, social workers lacked specialised training to guide families effectively. The project sought to bridge this gap by developing and testing an innovative training model, ultimately empowering communities to promote diversity and equality while enhancing the support available to parents.
