Summary

The main intention when requesting funding for this project was to improve the emotional management of people with disabilities, offering a series of innovative tools, dynamics and activities in this area. The consortium had detected that, although mental health had already entered the political debate, that which concerns people with disabilities had been relegated to the background. Based on the experience of the partner organizations, we wanted to develop a series of activities that would lead to the creation of reference products in the field of emotional management of people with disabilities. The needs that the consortium detected and has addressed with the project are the following: - There is little literature regarding the emotional management of people with disabilities today. For this reason, we have created a Guide with original and specific educational resources for our target audience, with information of interest to professionals in the sector, families and caregivers. - Direct work on emotional management with people with disabilities, for which we have given 9 workshops between the 3 countries. - To ensure that the project continues, we have created a video tutorial.

Objectives

The main objective of our project was to provide people with disabilities with tools to be able to recognise, manage and express their emotions. As secondary objectives, the partnership has sought to achieve: - An improvement in the quality of life of people with disabilities. Through our resources they have been able to connect with themselves and with the outside world in a real way. - Provide an accessible tool to relatives of people with disabilities and professionals who work with this group of people who have limitations or lack knowledge in the field of recognition, management and expression of emotions. In other words, we wanted to create a series of tools (a guide to good practices, materials for the workshops and a video tutorial) to be used at any time by anyone who wants to delve into improving the emotional management of people with disabilities, either by replicating the workshops, applying the recommendations of the guide in their daily work or using some of the educational resources at home with a family member.

Activities

The activities that have been implemented over the 18 months of the project are the following: 1. Guide of educational resources and good practices to work on emotional management with people with disabilities. The document consists of a first part of recommendations and good practices, and a second part with different activities designed by the consortium to work on emotional management with people with disabilities. 2. Workshops on emotional management with people with disabilities, where we put into practice the resources developed for the guide. A total of 9 workshops have been held, 3 per partner country. 3. 30-minute video tutorial to inform about the project, a summary of the guide and the step-by-step instructions to put the activities in the guide into practice. 4. Two transnational partner meetings, in Granada and Paris. 5. Three multiplier events, one in each partner country. Through these, we have made known among our local communities the work carried out at a transnational level between the project partners, as well as the benefits of implementing the activities. 6. In parallel to all these activities, we have contacted numerous organisations and professional associations in the sector.

Impact

The tangible results of the project are mainly two: 1. The Guide of teaching resources to work on the emotional management of people with disabilities. 2. The video tutorial to learn how to use the guide and the resources. Both products are available in English, Spanish, French and Turkish on the project website: https://draw4u.net/ Within the video tutorial you can see images of some workshops, as well as photos and evaluations on our social networks and on the project website. All the materials used in the delivery of these workshops can be downloaded free of charge from the project website.
