▶Objectives
By implementing this project we wanted to raise awareness and introduce better habits in our schools, in treating and saving water as the first and most important steps to solve the growing freshwater problems. We plan to improve the pedagogical approaches of our teachers to teach students to be aware of the importance of freshwater through various tools. Objective 1: To increase the awareness of participants, students and families, about freshwater and learn how educators play a vital role in appreciating ecology. These outcomes, which would sensitize participants about water sources, ecology, and sustainability, would help us achieve the following objectives in the project. Objective 2: To develop materials and curricula to raise water awareness in students. Participants would be able to observe and analyze effective school materials used in awareness applications. Objective 3: To learn from out-of-class activities, projects, and school activities to teach about freshwater awareness. Participants would observe how field trips are used to draw students' attention to ecology, biodiversity, and freshwater sources. Objective 4: Acquire gamification skills for water literacy for students of different ages.
▶Activities
Four LTTAs were organised in Italy (Sicily Island), Portugal (Famalicao), Spain (Tenerife Island) and Turkey (Sakarya). During the LTTA, various activities were carried out that allowed the objectives of the project to be achieved. In each of the mobilities, we attended conferences on the way rainwater is collected in each of the partner cities. We also participated in visits to see water plants in situ. We were received by mayors and different local and educational authorities who helped us understand the water problem in each of the countries participating in this project. In each of the schools, different activities were carried out with the students to raise awareness and study the importance of saving water. Informative seminars were held after the LTTA. The educational communities of each school were brought together to share the results of each of the mobility activities. The teaching staff at each school have also received training on the importance of water and the discoveries and studies we have been carrying out in this regard.
