โ–ถSummary

The ROMOTICS project was initiated to address several key needs in the field of Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR) and Industry 5.0. There was a growing demand for professionals skilled in AMR technologies, but current educational programs were not adequately preparing students for these roles. The project aimed to prepare students and professionals for the transition to Industry 5.0, which emphasized human-machine collaboration and sustainable manufacturing. Existing curricula lacked hands-on training with AMR technologies, limiting students' ability to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios. The project responded to the increasing adoption of AMR in various sectors, requiring a workforce capable of programming, operating, and maintaining these systems. It aimed to create resources that would enable continuous upskilling and reskilling of professionals in the rapidly evolving field of robotics. By improving AMR education and training, the project contributed to strengthening Europe's position in the global robotics and automation market.

โ–ถObjectives

The ROMOTICS project achieved several key objectives in the field of Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR) and higher education: 1.- We helped in the upskilling and reskilling of teachers in AMR. 2. We prepared students for the emerging technologies in Industry 5.0 addressing the skills mismatch in autonomous mobile robotics education. 3. We supported higher education institutions in updating their curriculum to meet industry needs enhancing their educational capabilities. 4. We facilitated knowledge transfer between academic institutions and industry closing the gab between Industry and education. 5. We created an international networking community in AMR that can stand thanks to the Moodle platform and the facebook page. The project specifically targeted higher education institutions, focusing on creating adaptable and comprehensive educational resources that can help students develop practical skills in autonomous mobile robotics, aligning with the evolving requirements of Industry 5.

โ–ถImpact

The main outputs are the AMR Interactive Training Course with self-assessment quizzes and the Methodology for teachers to implement AMR education with Six real-world challenges related to AMRs, each taking 10-30 learning hours. Both outputs are available on a Moodle platform created using H5P. The Training Course covers multiple AMR brands: KUKKA, MIR 100, Omron, and potentially SEW Eurodrive. We have also created a project website https://www.romotics.eu/ linking to the E-learning platform. Both platforms available in multiple languages (EN, IT, ES, EL, FR). We also organized a 3-day Training event for teachers. These teachers organized workshops for teachers in their respective countries. Apart from that we created a Facebook and Instagram page for the Romotics project. We have shared 4 newsletters and offered conferences in each country. We have established partnerships between educational institutions and industry across Europe creating a knowledge-sharing network. These outputs have contributed to upskilling students and teachers in AMR technologies, enhancing the quality of education in this field, and promoting collaboration between educational institutions and industry across Europe.
