▶Objectives
We wanted our students and teachers to see how similar we are as a nation even though we come from different cultures and backrounds. We wanted to teach each other about litterature, art and music that are meaningful to our culture and makes us a nation. For example, Kalevala, which is a Finnish national epic. Learning languages with positive attitude was also important objective to achieve. We also wanted to improve our digital skills, for example, by working with Google, social networks etc.
▶Activities
We had 6 virtual meetings, with different themes each time. Our plan was to do 7, but we combined virtual meeting 6 and 7 since our students were about to graduate before summer 2023. In March 2023 Alavuden yläkoulu (18 students and 5 teachers) visited College Notre Dame Agde which was our main activity and where we used most of our budjet and resources.
▶Impact
During our meetings we discussed together about our project. We also gathered an Erasmus club and did posters, slide shows, drawings, pictures and videos. We made an Erasmus wall on the walls of the schools that participated in the project. Instagram account was also made, and we shared our project on the website and annual report of Alavuden yläkoulu. News were written for the local newspaper and the official Facebook websites of Alavus and Agde. During our visit in Agde, we performed sketches about Finnish and French culture, sang songs about Kalevala and our world as a nation. We took pictures, wrote love poems together, filmed videos and made a picture book of our visit. In the end we made an evaluation form.
