Multidisciplinary Sustainable Development in VET

In our modern world the industry is in serious need of solutions to maintain a sustainable programme on every level starting from planning to production, from consumer to the endpoint of the product or service cycle. This knowledge, as the title of this project advocates, consequently urges us to inspire Multidisciplinary Sustainable Development awareness in educational institutions and in particular VET schools, the reason why we also have chosen three different technology themes. Moreover, Multidisciplinary Sustainable Development in VET leads us directly to our priority which is 'Adapting Vocational Education and Training to Labour Market Needs'. VET organisations are the source of manpower and need to evolve according to the needs and challenges of the industry.

It was clear that equipping European citizens—in this project, the participants—with the knowledge, skills, and competences needed in a dynamically changing society was crucial in the ongoing fight against climate change and environmental pollution. To achieve this, the partnership designed a multidisciplinary program where participants from all partner schools contributed to collecting data on three significant themes that had a profound impact on the environment. Through the knowledge acquired and the practical exercises and solutions, the students developed environmental awareness, which had a positive and constructive impact on both their professional and private lives. The first three activity themes of the project—1. Green Energy; 2. Green and Sustainable Alternatives to Plastics; and 3. The Water Crisis and Drinking Water Production—primarily addressed Sustainable Development Goals No. 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, No. 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, and No. 12: Sustainable Consumption and Production, among the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations.
