Objectives

The main objectives of the project were: O1: To raise both students’ and teachers' awareness and knowledge of the environmental issues and provide them with skills to change their behavior permanently, and starting from partner schools gradually promote this change in our communities by disseminating the outcomes of the project activities. O2: To provide access to the best practices of environmental education in other partner schools and apply these in our own education 03: To help the students make decisions on their lifestyles to make it greener & healthier and more sustainable, thus helping them to leave a cleaner world to future generations by using the knowledge gained through the project activities. O4: To encourage students to stand up for and take action for the environment. O5: To promote the students' skills to cooperate with their peers on the subject matters of the project and thus help them to develop their foreign language and ICT skills and to understand their roles as active European citizens in a common European community. 06: To encourage tolerance among pupils and educational staff coming from different cultures.

Activities

In order to achieve our goals we had a teacher training course, 2 TPMs and 4 LTTAs. Joint activities were organized locally and a project website was published. During the mobilities we had activities such as workshops, educational activities, field visits, meetings and information seminars, in which teachers and students gained insight regarding the project objectives. An eTwinning project was also carried out throughout the project.

Impact

As the main outcome we believe to have provided a permanent change in individuals' behavior to preserve the earth for new generations. Our students are aware of the limited resources of the earth and capable of taking the essential action as environmentally literate citizens. In addition, we provided the participating schools with good practices in environmental education and published a handbook of educational activities as an outcome of this project. It is a Good practices collection, which includes 12 activities focusing on ecological literacy, climate change and sustainability issues. Thanks to LTTA activities, concrete outputs were developed, such as: Climate Summit presentations, Carbon Footprint calculations, Climate Change Escape Game, Articles, etc.
