Sustainable development goals for pupils
โถSummary
Leading a project around the SDGs and offering a learning site makes it possible to raise awareness and educate a wide audience on these crucial issues. It also promotes the commitment of individuals and communities to act for sustainable development. A learning site can offer resources, training, and tools to help people understand the SDGs and implement concrete actions in their daily lives or within their organization. By making this information accessible, the project helps create a positive impact and encourage a culture of sustainability. Students represent the future generation, and they are aware of sustainable development issues from an early age can encourage them to adopt responsible and sustainable behaviours. By integrating the SDGs into their education, they are given the tools to understand and act on global challenges. Teachers play a key role in the transmission of knowledge and values. By involving them in SDG-related projects, they are enabled to become agents of change within their classrooms and communities. In this way, they can inspire and motivate students to get involved.
โถObjectives
We wanted to raise awareness and educate about the SDGs by offering detailed sheets of each SDG, available to a wide audience, and to support community actors, particularly teachers, who are closest to young citizens. The ultimate goal is not only to change mentalities but to generate personal and collective commitment to sustainable development. It was therefore necessary to provide the necessary resources by providing tools such as educational sessions and teacher training so that they were equipped, trained and motivated. However, the impact is not only academic. In the near future, it is a way to stimulate innovation, foster collaboration and project ourselves - for the students - into a job and actions that support these sustainable orientations, to make people aware that the breaking point is near and that we must act collectively. It is not only about achieving these SDGs, but about preserving sustainable conditions for present and future generations. Young people have greater cognitive flexibility and a critical eye in construction. All the partners have understood this.
โถActivities
Various activities have emerged. The aim was to offer turnkey sessions - designed by all the partners - to carry out educational and fun activities with the students, such as role-playing games and interactive quizzes. As learning is fun, games have fostered collective intelligence while allowing for fun. Mini-projects have been set up in the establishments with the support of each partner, such as solidarity collections or the campaign against food waste or the preservation of natural spaces. We were able to benefit from the testimonies of committed actors such as forest rangers, NGOs, local associations. We have participated in the creation of content for a wide audience such as a curriculum, kits, posters, SDG maps. In addition, a training course for students and educators allows them both to accompany them in a better knowledge of the SDGs and to support them in individualizing learning. Added to this is a wide dissemination to different audiences. The emphasis is on co-construction by peers and the involvement of different actors.
โถImpact
The creation of a training platform dedicated to the Sustainable Development Goals is - for students: an interactive course featuring quizzes, questionnaires, and artistic activities to complete, etc. - for teachers: online training modules on using digital tools for cooperation and communication, tools for modifying/creating and sharing, and tools for managing digital technologies in teaching and learning, for assessment, facilitating inclusion, and promoting students' digital skills.
