▶Objectives
The specific project objectives were 1) providing European care managers with skills to lead the change towards the adoption of person-centred care (PCC) approaches in their working contexts; 2) offering care managers with a space and a methodology to support reflection, reflexivity and learning from work-based experience while also start developing a network of professionals exercising this job at national level and willing to share a professional development process; 3) developing a European Community of Practices (CoP) of care managers and care workers on PCC for older persons with the goal to share experience and skills, build a common language, and support the consolidation of a new professional vision on humanistic care.
▶Activities
The project implemented the following activities: A) creation of a b-learning training programme for care managers on leadership for PCC, which was tested with professionals from six different EU countries, evaluated and disseminated; (B) development of a methodology to support the acquisition of reflective skills of care managers and provide them opportunities for personal development to improve their leadership skills, which was tested with professionals from six different EU countries; evaluated and disseminated; (C) implementation of a digital European Community of Practice for care managers, to create opportunities to support the development of a European shared professional identity and the exchange of practices, standards and approaches to leadership to support the development of PCC practices across EU. The outcomes of the CoP were used to develop a policy recommendations report which was then disseminated and used to impact on policy development in the field of VET in the care sector. (D) transversal activities of project management, monitoring and reporting to ensure the smooth implementation of all activities
▶Impact
The main results produced were: 1) the development, testing and dissemination of “Care managers as drivers of PCC”, a multi-language, blended learning training package addressed to care managers across Europe; 2) the adaptation, testing and dissemination of a methodology to run online reflective groups of care managers committed to improve the PCC practices of their organizations, inspired by the “work discussion groups” methodology; 3) the implementation, facilitation, piloting and dissemination of a digital Community of Practice for European care managers committed to improve the PCC practices of their organizations.
