Objectives

By implementing this project, we will be able to provide needs-based training to tertiary level teachers in to help them move forward from the ‘emergency remote teaching’ to the next stages on the road to the digital transformation of HEIs. To achieve this goal, our main objective will be to build tertiary level teachers’ capacity to ‘think like an expert instructional designer’ and progress towards optimal online teaching and learning.

Activities

Implementing this project will provide a training course to equip teachers with the expertise they need to move forward towards optimal online teaching and learning. It will build tertiary level teachers’ capacity to ‘think like an expert instructional designer’ and progress towards optimal online teaching and learning. The training course ‘SOUL’ Kit (Scaffolding Online University Learning) will consist of five mutually reinforcing units that will build teachers’ capacity.

Impact

We expect positive results such as: (1) ‘think like an expert instructional designer’, (2) make informed decisions regarding effective combinations delivery modes, (3) use UDL principles, (4) utilize inclusive ongoing assessment (5) gain and maintain high levels of student engagement, (6) reduce cognitive load, (7) provide non-cognitive scaffolding, (8) increase types of lecturer - student interactions.
