By implementing the TUDEC activities, the project Consortium wanted to: - Foster in educational staff, children, students increased awareness about the Sustainable Development Goals and the SDG11 in particular by helping them implementing didactic activities centred on the upcycling model and on an ecologically planned urban environment. - TUDEC wanted to produce tools for supporting teachers and educators in implementing didactic activities addressed to children for increasing their understanding of the natural systems, ecology, sustainable urban environment - Create new instruments and integrate non-formal learning to be embedded with current curricula and prioritizing understanding of and capacity building for the creation of a resilient urban environment by children themselves.

Rapid changes in technology, socio-economic conditions and the environment are shaping the world that young people will inherit. By equipping them with the right skills and knowledge, the TUDEC project intended to prepare them to thrive in this evolving world and also to let them become active agents of positive social changes. TUDEC focused on the UN's social Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 11 (sustainable cities and communities) centred on creating inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable urban environments. As urbanisation continues to grow, teaching children about the importance of sustainable urban planning is crucial. TUDEC also intended to promote critical thinking, entrepreneurship and problem solving. These skills are essential in helping children become active contributors to their communities, particularly in addressing pressing environmental challenges. By incorporating these elements into the curriculum, students not only gain knowledge, but also understand their role in shaping a more sustainable future. TUDEC intend to help children understand the complexities of the modern world and equip them with the necessary tools to innovate and become responsible global citizens.

The TUDEC Consortium has produced usable and highly flexible materials that can be easily adapted to the needs of different ages and educational requirements: - A Curriculum on SDG goals (in particular the SDG11) targeting pupils aged 6-14 with focus on presenting activities in elementary schools building sustainable cities; the contents of the Modules aim to give the users an overview of different aspects of cities that fall in the definition of ‘sustainable’; Each Module contains direct references to school curricula but is also linked to suggestions for concrete didactic activities that can be found in the final Handbook/Manual - A Handbook/Manual containing a complete set of didactic activities to provide teachers and educators with tools to teach ecological urbanism and ecological planning; - Twelve Educational Animated Videos as completion of the didactic activities, to foster their interactivity and attractivity for children. They are tools to guide learners through the Curriculum Modules and increase their interest in sustainable development, in the importance of having environmentally friendly and more inclusive cities. All materials produced are available in English and in all the languages of the partnership.
