Objectives

One of the primary goals was to raise awareness about environmental issues among young people and inspire them to take action to address these challenges in their daily lives and future careers. The project aimed to equip participants with practical skills related to sustainability, innovation, and problem-solving, thereby enhancing their employability and capacity to contribute to a more sustainable society and professional fields. There was a goal to develop educational material on green skills in 12 professions. That would inspire development of education system by introducing innovative teaching methods and curricula that emphasize real-world applications and interdisciplinary learning, particularly in the context of environmental sustainability. By promoting international cooperation and knowledge exchange project implementers aimed to foster collaboration among educational institutions, students, and industry partners from different countries and cultural backgrounds. By partnering with businesses and industry organizations, the project seeks to bridge the gap between education and industry, ensuring that educational programs are aligned with the needs and priorities of the green economy.

Activities

Training for student and employee on sustainability and green skills topic; Student idea competition - encouraged to identify and propose improvements for problem situations in their daily lives from a sustainability perspective; Provided seminars and training sessions on green skills and circular economy topics; Students worked on deepening their understanding of identified problems, researched impacts, calculated costs and benefits of alternative solutions, and prepared implementation plans; Created prototypes and prepared final presentations of their ideas for stakeholders; Created educational materials tailored to 12 vocational education programs with a focus on specific professions; Materials were designed to be used in subjects like 'Initiative and Entrepreneurship' at Valmieras tehnikums and translated into English for use by partner organizations and other educational institutions. Provided opportunities for cross-cultural learning and the exchange of best practices among students and educators from different countries. Fostered partnerships between educational institutions and the business sector. Ensured that the content was accessible and engaging for the target audience.

Impact

Increased awareness among students about environmental issues and sustainable practices. Organized student idea competitions - 36 ready to implement students' ideas on sustainability for implementation in school, dormitory, company, or local society. Conducted multiple seminars and training sessions on green skills and circular economy topics in Italy, Latvia, and Estonia. Developed prototypes of sustainable solutions. Prepared detailed implementation plans for these solutions, including cost-benefit analyses. Created green skills educational materials for 12 vocational education programs. Engaged industry partners and experts in the educational process. Established partnerships between educational institutions and businesses. Introduced and integrated green skills into vocational education curricula at Valmieras tehnikums. Developed interactive game within Loquiz Creator for project result dissemination and student engagement. Valmieras tehnikums started the procedure of recognition to become a eco-school.
