Objectives

The following objectives had been set for the BINGOGREEN project: • Creating more awareness on sustainable skills and healthy lifestyle among children between 4-12 years old • Creating more awareness on sustainable skills and healthy lifestyle among teachers in school education • Creating a sense of ownership within the children of their own healthy lifestyle and sustainable skills at an early age • Developing an innovative learning approach... ...where children are involved in both the creation as well as the execution of the learning content ...that involves the direct environment of the children (parents, siblings, neighbours etc.) ...that starts within school and continues outside of school ...fits with the experiences of the children ...that motivates through gamification ...provide practical tools and steps that promote the development of sustainable skills and a healthier lifestyle

Activities

Within the BINGOGREEN project two activities have been at heart: - Development of the Go Healthy Toolbox Both partners have gathered information on the format of the toolbox through a survey completed by teachers in the different age categories. Then each partner has gathered 8 good practices/existing initiatives in the field of the promotion of a healthy lifestyle and sustainability. From these in total 16 activities 10 have been selected for the toolbox. In the last phase of the project the BINGOGREEN Methodology has been added as 11th tool. - Development of the BINGOGREEN Methodology An initial brainstorming session resulted in an outline as the base for the development of the methodology, by both partners. Both schools have tested the BINGOGREEN Methodology with their teachers and pupils. IKC Alexia has tested the bingo cards with all their pupils (220 pupils and 24 teachers) and PSV has tested with 142 pupils and 12 teachers from their own school and 80 pupils and 4 teachers from 4 other schools in their region. In the last phase of the project the partners have been actively trying to spread the results and trying to motivate also other schools to use the toolkit and the methodology in their schools.

Impact

The concrete outputs of BINGOGREEN are the following: - Go Healthy Toolbox in 3 languages (English, Dutch and Greek) - Bingogreen Methodology including bingo cards This project has also contributed to increased awareness on sustainable skills and a healthy lifestyle among pupils and teachers in school education, increased ownership of one’s own healthy lifestyle and sustainable skills and increased capacity to provide adequate education, specifically in the field of healthy lifestyle and sustainable skills.
