▶Objectives
To develop an interdisciplinary program that reflects how school subjects can be applied in real-life activities and to design practical resources for teachers to self-craft school trips with their pupils that focus on the UNWTO guidelines for responsible travel and the UN sustainable development goals, instead of relying on the purchase of readymade offers which often lack significant educational underpinnings.
▶Activities
The 'Fresh Eyes school trips' project developed an innovative blueprint to increase the pedagogic content of school trips, through cross-disciplinary (interdisciplinary) learning experiences that advance key competencies in 11-14 year old pupils.
▶Impact
The project produced a comprehensive program comprising: - guided classroom research about a chosen destination; - an interdisciplinary program that covers the practical application of subjects such as Mathematics, Chemistry, History, Geography, Arts & Crafts, Polish and Career Guidance in conjunction with English; the creation of an attractive online itinerary that preserves the experiences of the trip, and practices English language and editing skills. All steps are collaborative teacher-learner activities that reflect the cross-disciplinary nature of how school subjects overlap with each other in real-life practical applications.
