▶Objectives
We wanted to achieve important project goals aimed at the comprehensive development of participants. We involved students in the process of creating and implementing activities to encourage them to develop personally. They gained new knowledge and experience in the area of health, which contributed to their better preparation for their future professional life. Students learned to take joint responsibility for assigned tasks, which increased their self-presentation skills and raised their self-esteem. They developed teamwork skills, which in the future will improve their chances of employment. Participants gained valuable experience and developed key competences. Study visits had a positive impact on the participants’ initiative, entrepreneurship and cultural awareness. Students had the opportunity to test their abilities, learn effective planning and cooperation. Study visits in their own country allowed them to better identify with the region and the country. Students developed key competences, including language, mathematical and digital skills. International cooperation has increased the prestige of schools and counteracted educational inequalities by engaging students with special educational needs.
▶Activities
Project teams were selected in schools, all procedures were completed, and arrangements related to the implementation of the project were made on an ongoing basis. Students prepared and selected the project logo. The project social media accounts were created where articles, photos, presentations, and short reports from participants were posted. Four study visits to Turkey, Romania, Croatia, and Poland were held along with planned activities. Local activities were carried out in all 4 schools, we celebrated European Mobility Week, World Cleanup Day, Health Day, Food Day. Additionally, each school carried out activities on different days: Turkey - Mental Health Day, Croatia - Spine Day, Romania - No Tobacco Day, Poland - Immunology Day. We completed tasks related to: planning, preparing dishes with local superfoods that increase immunity, reducing waste; we took on challenges related to physical activity, physiotherapy, and psychology. Each school in its own environment took care of disseminating and promoting the project activities on school pages, in social media, among students, parents and in the local community. The project was disseminated during: open days, local events.
▶Impact
The effective work of the project team, good communication and cooperation had a positive impact on the implementation time and the use of funds. Study visits and other activities allowed students to test their abilities, to demonstrate their own initiative, entrepreneurship, awareness, culture and taught them how to effectively plan and cooperate in a group, which will prevent leaving school early. Participants developed key competences, gained new friends, broadened their minds, learned how to take care of their physical and mental health. Professional competences increased. Due to participation of students with special educational needs, from rural areas and from homes with a difficult economic situation, we counteracted inequalities in education. There are many results linked with a healthy lifestyle and mental health, available to everyone: a 4-week training plan, the ABC of Health e-book, the joint e-book aimed at improving health, the portfolio of herbs and the project social media. We increased the immunity of participants and promoted a healthy lifestyle by combining diet, physical activity, physiotherapy and psychology. Project provided recommendations for partner countries, which strengthened local strategies.
