Our primary goal was to empower smallholder farmers across Europe by providing them with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to adopt more sustainable and regenerative farming practices that not only protect natural resources but also contribute to their long-term economic well-being. By doing so, we sought to address the pressing challenges they face, including limited access to education, low technological skills, and the increasing impacts of climate change. Another important goal was to support VET providers in expanding their green training initiatives. The project aligned with key EU strategies ensuring that sustainability-focused education became more widely available in rural areas. Beyond supporting farmers directly, another major objective was to increase the level of lifelong learning among smallholders. Through structured educational programs, we aimed to bridge this gap and foster continuous professional development in the agricultural sector. By implementing this project, we worked towards strengthening smallholders' resilience, improving their economic stability, and promoting a more sustainable and interconnected agricultural system across Europe.

The EU-DARE project implemented a variety of activities aimed at addressing the needs of smallholder farmers and improving their knowledge and skills in agroecology and sustainable farming practices. As part of the EU-DARE project, we implemented key activities to support small farmers in Europe in the field of agroecology and sustainable agriculture. The project focused on two main areas. The first was research on best agroecological practices - the identification of successful implementation examples in each partner country (Sustainable Regenerative Farming Systems Guide and Learning Tool. Good practice compendium). The collected data was compiled into an online compendium to serve as a reference for small farmers and VET providers. The second area was the development of educational resources, including a comprehensive training course available as Open Educational Resources (OER). The program covered modules on agroecology, its impact on the community, and practical farming systems. A VET guide and curriculum were developed to help vocational trainers incorporate sustainable and regenerative farming education into their programs. The final resources are made available on an online platform in multiple (6) languages.

The EU-DARE project produced several outputs aimed at enhancing agroecological knowledge and promoting sustainable farming practices among smallholder farmers. One of the key outputs was the Good practice compendium a digital publication featuring 30 successful agroecological practices gathered at local, regional, and national levels. Another major achievement was the creation of an OER platform, available in 6 languages, offering personalized learning experiences. The training modules (10 modules) covered three core areas: an introduction to agroecology, its impact on communities, and practical implementation of agroecological systems. To support vocational education, the project developed a VET Guide, providing teaching methodologies and strategies for integrating sustainable and regenerative farming education into curricula, as well as a Curriculum for the entire course. The project also conducted pilot tests to refine the materials, followed by a rollout phase. Through these initiatives, EUDARE successfully delivered innovative, practical, and accessible educational resources, ensuring long-term benefits for smallholder farmers. All of our learning resources are highly digitized, published online, and free to download and use.
