โถObjectives
The primary target audience of the project included the institutions involved in the project, along with the teachers and students working within these institutions. The wider target audience of the project consisted of equivalent institutions in the regions where the consortium schools are located, their staff, students, and universities. Today, the rapid changes in the fields of science and technology have increased the demand for a qualified workforce in societies. To reach a qualified workforce, it has become inevitable for educational institutions to adopt innovation-based teaching methods. In our project, we aimed to support the reduction of the skilled workforce gap in countries at a societal level by applying STEM-based activities through an interdisciplinary educational approach targeting students. By integrating STEM education with the fields of Arts and Entrepreneurship, the project seeked to enable students to apply Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics to real-world problems and to develop STEM literacy acting as a bridge between schools, communities, and the business world. The project activities aimed to enhance teachers' competencies in this field at an international level.
โถActivities
As the coordinating institution, we organized the Project Kick-off Meeting in April 2023, during which Cooperation Agreements and Memorandums of Understanding were signed with the consortium institutions. During the three-day meeting, educational activities covering the preparation, mobility, and dissemination phases of the project were organized in collaboration with the partner institutions.Tasks and responsibilities were allocated to each institution. Project Management Teams were established in the consortium schools. The final activity of the project, a Hackathon Competition, was held in June 2024, hosted by our institution. The consortium partner institution, ITIS Polo Tecnico Fermi-Gadda in ITALY, hosted the Innovation Workshop Activity in October 2023. Three students and two teachers from each partner institution participated in the five-day event, during which student activities focused on basic robotics coding and Arduino programming. The consortium partner institution, Denizli Aydem Science High School, hosted the Mental Toolbox E-STEAM activity in February 2023. In April 2024, Adana BILSEM hosted a five-day STEAM Workshop focused on 3D Design.
โถImpact
Basic knowledge of Arduino programming language was acquired through the Arduino program. Students reached a level where they could correctly understand the basic logic of algorithms and write logical steps to solve problems.Through collaboration during the activity, students participated in a collaborative learning process by helping each other, developing projects together, and sharing their work. Cooperative learning was successfully implemented it Contributed to the development of problem-solving skills. Increaseof their literacy levels in Science, Mathematics, and Technology. Students gained critical and analytical thinking skills.Foreign language communication skills were enhanced. Students developed technical knowledge and skills in the STEAM field, which enabled them to generate innovative ideas that will help them prepare for real-life challenges. By connecting different ideas and concepts in entrepreneurship, students developed higher-order cognitive skills. Regarding teachers, the project activity enhanced their professional skills in the STEAM education field. Sharing practices with teachers from different institutions across the EU, following EU standards, allowed for the identification of innovative practices.
