Summary

We applied for this project to respond to the clear and diverse needs identified in the needs analysis of partner schools, teachers, students and museums. The results of the analysis highlighted the following challenges and opportunities: For teachers: The need for support in integrating cultural heritage education into the teaching process. Although most teachers consider this type of education to be essential. The challenges of organizing extracurricular cultural activities and the lack of familiarity with cultural legislation limit their impact. The demand for innovative digital tools (VR) for interdisciplinary teaching. For students: The desire to explore cultural heritage and learn through modern methods, such as virtual tours and digital platforms. Although most students are familiar with the notion of culture, only half have a complete perspective on cultural fields. The need for wider access to interactive educational activities and digital materials that stimulate their curiosity. For museums: The need for modern equipment and the digitization of educational resources to become more accessible and relevant for schools and students. The lack of qualified staff.

Activities

By implementing this Erasmus project, we aimed to promote the social and educational values of European cultural heritage, highlighting cultural diversity as a foundation for local and European identities. At the same time, we wanted to contribute to social inclusion and strengthen European citizenship through cultural education. The project aimed to improve adolescents’ interaction with creativity, arts and culture, through innovative methods such as museum visits, UNESCO heritage studies and practical activities. By involving students and teachers in artistic and cultural projects, we aimed to promote cultural expression and awareness of cultural identity. Another objective was to create modern educational tools for the 12-15 age group, using AR and VR applications, which facilitate active learning and deepen understanding of cultural heritage. In addition, we wanted to develop essential skills such as a spirit of initiative, communication in foreign languages, social and civic skills and to stimulate the use of digital technologies and practical skills in the educational process. These can be found on the CCH-Hubs e-learning platform.

Impact

Needs analyses were conducted for four distinct categories, including disadvantaged students, schools, teachers and museums. This research allowed the development of a high-quality curriculum and teaching resources. An educational toolkit, a user manual and an e-learning platform were developed. At least 70 extracurricular activities were carried out involving around 300 students, integrating cultural heritage content into at least 2 school subjects. 85% of teachers found the toolkit useful and 80% of users reported the relevance of the platform to their educational needs. The mobilities contributed to the development of social, communication and cultural awareness skills among students. The instructions included feedback from participants and suggestions for improving educational methodologies. An innovative methodology was developed for students aged 12-15, using modern technologies such as QR codes, augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). Press releases and a detailed dissemination plan were developed, including dissemination on social media.
