▶Objectives
With the results of the project, we aimed to expand and further develop the Global Education Teachers’ Club initiative, which supports teachers in developing and strengthening their competencies for educating young people about the global challenges of the 21st century and promoting shared humanistic values. We also aimed to increase the visibility of Global Education (GE) among the teaching community in the partner countries and beyond. To achieve these two aims, we pursued the specific objectives of: a) strengthening the capacities and competences of partner organizations in the field of GE and in working with teachers and other educators at a more advanced level; b) developing new GE resources and materials for teachers and other educators that enhance inclusive education and foster intercultural dialogue and sustainable development among young people; c) upgrading the existing initiative developed in Slovenia—the Global Education Teachers’ Club—and transferring it to three partner countries; and d) promoting and raising awareness of the importance of GE among teachers, other educators, and policymakers, and encouraging networking among relevant actors active in both formal and non-formal education.
▶Activities
The main activities of the project focused on transferring the knowledge and experience gained from establishing the Global Education Teachers’ Club in Slovenia to the three partner organizations, and on supporting the establishment and activities of such clubs in all four partner countries. In addition to regular club meetings—where we piloted a variety of GE activities with teachers, introduced new materials, and organized training sessions—we also connected the activities of the GE Clubs at the international level and organized an international seminar for teachers and GE experts. We carried out learning opportunities aimed at strengthening the competencies of partner organizations, enabling the creation of high-quality new teaching materials and the development of a GE training programme at both basic and advanced levels. These were complemented by national GE trainings and conferences in all partner countries. We upgraded and enriched our resource databases with new books and other teaching materials, supplemented by selected translations of articles and resources on GE. The project and the GE Clubs were presented at a variety of events and occasions, with the active participation of teachers who are members of the Clubs.
