The first objective of the project was to identify the needs, limitations and knowledge gaps which SMEs face in relation to AI and its potential for their business, in order to determine how the training content developed during the project can best address the knowledge gaps needed to increase staff confidence in AI and digital competence relevant to modern labour market needs. The second objective of the PAITool project was to develop a new training course, made up of 8 modules, to support SME staff in adapting to and enacting digital transformation by learning how to incorporate AI systems and tools in their own business structure and gain a competitive edge in the market. The third objective was to deploy the course and deliver training to over 60 SME staff, by making the course freely accessible on the PAITool website, as well as conducting Train-the-Trainer workshops and Upskilling workshops in Slovakia and Malta. The final objective of the project was to gather feedback on the project outputs in order to evaluate the success of the course and provide suggestions for improvement in future projects centred around the same topic.

The PAITool project developed an AI course on the eLearning platform available on https://paitool.eu/, which is made up of 8 modules representing 8 practical scenarios of AI deployment in SMEs. The course was developed in English and Slovak. Moreover, a quantitative survey was conducted among SMEs to understand their needs in adopting AI in their business, and the results were compiled into an SME Digitisation Needs report, published on the PAITool website (https://paitool.eu/reports/). Interviews were also carried out with experts to better understand some of the barriers to employment, and a Qualitative Assessment of Employment Barriers was written based on the results (https://paitool.eu/reports/ ). Furthermore, Train-the-Trainers workshops and Upskilling workshops were held in Slovakia and Malta to present the PAITool course and conduct in-person training. At the end of the project, an Evaluation report was written to compile and analyse the feedback gathered during the project and evaluate the project’s success in meeting its objectives. Recommendations for future projects were also given, to enable future projects, educators, trainers and policymakers to build on the project’s success.

A Qualitative Assessment of Employment Barriers outlining some of the main factors which hinder people from finding a job 3. An SME Digitisation Needs Report outlining what SMEs need in their digital transformation journey and adoption of AI in their day-to-day work processes. 4. 4 Train-the-Trainers workshops which delved deeper into how our course can be used in training environments 5. 7 Upskilling workshops, tackling specific modules in the courses in more detail. The workshops in Malta also included insights on how to create a more effective CV and how to prepare for interviews, so as to counteract a few of the barriers to employment identified in our Qualitative Assessment 6. SCDI hosted a conference in Slovakia, in December 2023, which included workshops on the different modules of the PAITool course 7. An Evaluation report which analysed the implementation of the PAITool project, including the feedback gathered from project participants ,and provided recommendations for improvements. This report will enable future projects, educators, trainers and policymakers to build on the project’s success
