▶Objectives
This project aims to augment and reinforce students’ positive attitudes towards democracy and democratic values across Europe through a cross-border approach to history education, specifically through teaching about the experience of totalitarianism and state socialism in Central and Eastern Europe in an effective and engaging way.
▶Activities
A set of 8 READY-TO-USE TEACHING MODULE KITS and a set of 8 RECORDED LECTURES AND INFORMATION PACKAGES on the topic of the state socialist past in Central and Eastern Europe, undertake a DISSEMINATION & COMMUNICATION CAMPAIGN to train teachers to use the methods, tools, and resources developed (including outreach to relevant stakeholders and policymakers), and set up a NETWORK for history and citizenship educators, which will be launched through the hosting of the first annual AUTUMN SCHOOL.
▶Impact
This project will increase the skills, knowledge, and resources for history teachers to teach about state socialism in Central-Eastern Europe in an effective and engaging way. The project will result in a set of useful teaching resources, provide training for teachers to become confident users of the resources, and create a platform on which teachers can exchange best practices on how best to use history education to reinforce students’ positive attitudes towards democracy and democratic values.
