Summary

The e-COOP project addressed critical challenges in rural energy transitions by empowering communities to adopt sustainable solutions. Rural areas face barriers such as limited access to knowledge, tools, and collaboration opportunities, hindering energy cooperatives. The project was initiated to fill this gap by providing practical methodologies, educational resources, and stakeholder engagement strategies. Key needs included promoting renewable energy, fostering community-driven initiatives, and enhancing stakeholder competencies to drive collective action in rural energy transitions.

Objectives

The project aimed to enable rural communities to collectively respond to energy, social, and environmental challenges through energy cooperatives. Objectives included: - Developing educational resources and tools for energy cooperatives. - Promoting behavioral changes and active stakeholder engagement. - Creating a comprehensive framework to support energy transitions in rural areas. - Ensuring accessibility and inclusivity through multilingual resources. By achieving these goals, the project sought to drive sustainable energy transitions, enhance collaboration, and build competencies across diverse rural stakeholders.
