β–ΆSummary

The EU aims to become climate-neutral by 2050, with a 55% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. As buildings account for 40% of total energy use and 36% of emissions, energy efficiency in this sector is critical. Achieving this requires an Integrated Building Design Approach, where Building Information Modelling (BIM) plays a key role by enabling data-driven, collaborative, and resource-efficient building processes. However, there is a significant skills gap: few professionals graduate with combined BIM and energy efficiency expertise. A needs analysis across the partner institutions confirmed this disconnect in both university hihger education and professional training. The project consortium applied for this project to tackle this skills gap. GREENBIM addresses this gap by developing a market-oriented transnational programme focused on BIM and Energy Efficiency in Buildings. The project supports the EU’s urgent call for skilled human capital capable of advancing the digital and green transformation of the built environment.

β–ΆObjectives

The main objective of GREENBIM was to tackle the lack of know-how and engineering skills on Building Information Management (BIM) in EU and Turkiye for achieving energy efficiency in buildings. The broader objective of GREENBIM was to make the building stock more energy-efficient, environmentally friendly, less carbon-intensive over their full life cycle and more sustainable. To serve these objectives GREENBIM wanted to develop easily accessible educational and public platforms, educational materials that can be used by educational/professional institutions and a micro-credential framework, all serving to increase the know-how and engineering/architectural skills of students, professionals, techicians, etc. on BIM and energy efficiency in buildings.
