The project is set out to build capacity for youth empowerment through training of sociocracy on the example of the election of class representatives. We want to bring more state of the art-methods used in innovative companies and organisations into schools, because there is a high need of agile, creative, adaptive, self-organised and cooperative workers in all industries. With our project we strive to introduce the Sociocratic open election - in vocational training and schools that is deepening the skills of participatory leadership, collaborative decision-making and inclusive behaviour in the workplace. OBJECTIVE 1: Create a scalable online course with instructions, checklists and videos in German, English and Spanish for teachers and for the purpose of vocational training. OBJECTIVE 2: Testing the online course by German, English and Spanish-speaking teachers in vocational schools with high socio-economic diversity, focus on inclusion and democratic values. OBJECTIVE 3: Distribute the online course through Erasmus+ tools, educational institutions, pedagogical college, educational networks from all partner organisations and through curriculums for vocational education to spread the open learning material as wide as possible.

The Level Up Democracy project is launched to tackle the lack of inclusive, participatory decision-making in schools, particularly in vocational and secondary education. A key issue is the election of class representatives, where traditional voting methods often favor popularity over merit, leaving many students disengaged from leadership opportunities. Our project introduces sociocratic elections, a method that fosters argument-based decision-making and inclusive democratic participation. This approach ensures that every student’s voice is heard while promoting autonomy and leadership rooted in competence rather than popularity. Furthermore, the project aimS to bridge the gap between digital and analog learning resources for democratic education. Many teachers lack structured training in participatory leadership, while schools require practical, evidence-based methods to effectively implement inclusive decision-making processes. KEY CHALLENGES: + Low student engagement in school decision-making. + Lack of structured teaching tools for educators to foster youth leadership and participatory democracy + The need for inclusive election methods that support neurodiverse and marginalized students.
