Objectives

This project had several objectives: To address key aspects of education, care and counselling of returnees and potential migrants, the use of digital media and to learn about other organisations' approaches. To develop the intercultural, social and digital skills of the staff and volunteers of the participating organisations. To strengthen the inclusion and participation of European citizens returning to their country of origin after migration and those interested in emigrating. To create the basis for transnational exchange in the field of education and counselling of migrants and returnees, knowledge generation, exchange and joint advocacy for the interests of the target groups.

Activities

A total of nine online workshops were held as part of the project, covering the different thematic strands of the project. For these workshops we invited external experts from NGOs, universities and other return initiatives. In three face-to-face events the participants got to know the work of the host organisation, the needs of the different target groups and the resources. The exchange with the network partners and representatives from politics and administration strengthened the understanding of the context, the background and the political discourse. Based on a mapping of ten organisations in four European countries, the foundation for a European network was laid. We were able to recruit proven experts from Spain and Germany to the project advisory board. We discussed the main features of the project, the milestones and the perspectives of the project with the members of the advisory board and received important input. The results and perspectives were presented at the final event, where representatives of the organisations, participants and members of the Advisory Board had their say

Impact

One of the end products of the project is the project homepage in English. This homepage not only serves to document the project, but also to transfer knowledge. We want to reach not only the participating organizations, but also other organizations that have a similar portfolio and could be interested in participating in a European network and a transnational exchange. We have also succeeded in laying the foundations for a transnational exchange in the field of education and advice for those wishing to emigrate and returnees. As a result of the intensive exchange with a total of ten civil society organizations from Ireland, Poland, Germany, Italy and Belgium, which have a similar portfolio to AGEyR and the Raphaelswerk, a network of eight organizations from five European countries has submitted an application for Erasmus+.
