▶Objectives
The primary objective of this project was to equip professionals from artistic, social, and educational fields, as well as the world of dance, with the tools, resources, and methodologies necessary to teach and engage with mixed-abled groups. By fostering a deeper understanding of inclusive dance practices, the project aimed to enhance learning opportunities and enable participants to implement innovative approaches within their organizations and professional fields. Additionally, the transnational nature of the project was designed to encourage the exchange of ideas and best practices among European partners, enriching participants' education and perspectives on dance, inclusion, and co-creation. The project also sought to challenge societal perceptions of ability and inclusion by redefining dance through mixed-abled approaches, demonstrating its transformative power to address social realities. Ultimately, the goal was to make dance and education more accessible, empowering practitioners to integrate inclusive methods into their work and establishing a sustainable foundation for future collaboration at the European level.
▶Activities
The project implemented three intensive training modules in each participating country, focused on inclusive dance practices. Each module featured two professional instructors from abroad, covering various disabilities and inclusive dance techniques. The training began with an open session on Friday afternoon, followed by two days of focused learning. Participants explored topics such as working with mobility impairments, intellectual disabilities, and sensory impairments. The modules were designed for a diverse group, including dancers, educators, and those aspiring to work with mixed-abled groups. The format combined both theory and practice, with educational discussions and movement exercises. All modules were inclusive and accessible, ensuring that participants of all abilities could engage fully. The activities aimed to equip participants with the skills needed to incorporate inclusive dance into their professional environments, whether in teaching, performance, or community work, fostering long-term sustainability and collaboration in the field of inclusive dance.
▶Impact
The project successfully delivered three inclusive dance training modules in each participating country, totaling nine modules, benefiting around 100 participants from diverse backgrounds. Each module had a unique focus, allowing a broad spectrum of application fields and opportunities to be addressed. These trainings equipped participants with practical tools and educational resources to implement inclusive dance in their professional work. Additionally, the project fostered a greater sense of inclusion and raised awareness of European Union values by bringing together individuals from different countries and backgrounds. The knowledge gained during these sessions is already being integrated into the participants' work, ensuring long-term impact and promoting inclusive education and social change across Europe. Through the collaboration of partners, the project established a network of professionals dedicated to implementing inclusive dance within their organizations and communities, laying the foundation for future collaborations.
