▶Objectives
Based on our experience with previous projects, we wanted to gain experience working with language stimulation, sound, and cultural heritage. We were fully aware from the start that we were newcomers to the field, so we were pretty open to how we would work with the project. The consortium was put together with a good combination of partners with expertise in children with special needs and traditional and museum education. We wanted to create a booklet to inspire teachers in schools and kindergartens to start working with sound pedagogically and technically. We also wanted to make a sound library and teaching programs for kindergartens and schools. Since the consortium, as mentioned above, is new to working with language learning, sound, and cultural heritage, Sound of Stories should also be seen as a pilot project where we could gain experience.
▶Activities
The three main activities were: a) Development of The Benefits of using Sound in education Booklet. b) Creation of “The collections of 100 soundscapes with photo included.” c) Development of the 17 Audio-Stories and 17 Pedagogical Sequences, including description of audio activities In addition, a transnational meeting was held at the Polish partner in Lodz, where the consortium was provided with a rich workshop on listening exercises and sound work in general, offering valuable learning opportunities. The developed audio stories and educational Sequences have been tested on pupils and teachers in the target group. Subsequently, a test-phase report was prepared for each member of the consortium. Each consortium partner has disseminated the project via social media, including blogs, articles, and meetings, and recorded its impact.
