▶Objectives
Our main objective was to increase the knowledge and practical skills of AED use and first aid of adults of Estonia and Czechia and though different project processes to learn from each other different methods and collect ideas how to make teaching of those topics more effective. According to the Systems Saving Lives, everyone and everything is an important link to survival. The Guideline was approved by the ERC General Assembly in 2020. The goal of saving more lives relies also on the education of people. Our partners long term objective is to make changes in the society so that people would know about AED machines and would be ready to use them if there is a need. We wanted to fulfil the third mission of higher education institutions - contribute to the social development of the regions in which we operate, by transferring knowledge and technologies to society at large. Same time we wanted to support idea of common values, civic engagement and participation. Project has invited to active citizenship and lifelong learning. It is important to turn attention to the fact that each person has social engagement. Every person can save live.
▶Activities
Main activities of the project: 1. Study visits. Beginning of the project there were two study visits, programs jointly agreed. 21.03 – 25.03.2023 to Czech Republic. Participants from Estonia: 5 staff members and 2 students. 28.05 – 01.06.2023 to Estonia Republic. Participants from Czech: 4 staff members. Added files: programmes, participants list, feedback. 2. Inclusive surveys for workshops. Jointly we created questions and then we translate questionnaire and used in in Czech and Estonian language. In Estonia we got 1017 answers, totally filled 830 and in Czech we got 446 answers. We have used answers to design workshops and also start writing joint scientific article. Project overview article is published in magazine Tervist. Added files: questionnaire, answers to questionnaire in 2 files. 3. Workshops to citizens Partners agreed workshop structure, topics, methods and duration. There were organized workshops in Estonia 12 days, 23 workshops and in Czech 10 workshops. ▶Impact
Main outputs of the project: 1. Study visits. Participants were very surprised how many differences there are in first aid systems in Estonia and Czech, but in general there are so many similarities. Czech were surprised that Estonia have licenses if you like to teach first aid and THCC makes really great job for community. Estonians admired Czech paid hobby clubs that are organized by university. Czech simulation center was newer and better equipped, but most important was discussion how they use it. Czech liked that Estonians have one call center for police, ambulance and rescue center and how this center jointly works with hospitals. Estonians were surprised that in Czech people are using ambulance to get transportation to hospitals. In Estonia there is also number 1220 as family doctor advice line, in Czech all people will call ambulance to ask advice. In Tartu Emergency Training Center there were lot of clever and easy solutions for teaching. ... 2. Inclusive surveys for workshops. We have first overview of people behavior and attitude towards first aid and AED. We have worked out questionnaire that we will use again. 3. Workshops to citizens. Hundreds of people have practiced to use AED. 4. 5 videoclips have been made.
