Summary

We launched this project to drive the digital transformation of natural sciences education, equipping teachers with accessible, high-quality, and cost-effective digital tools. Many educators lacked structured training and relied on self-study without clear methodologies, facing legal and technological barriers such as smartphone bans or limited access to computers, making uniform digital strategies difficult to implement. The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the need for digital tools, leading schools to explore Smart RoboKits and other educational technologies. However, teachers struggled with ready-made lesson plans and effective implementation. Our project provided structured, adaptable resources to overcome hesitation and enhance confidence in integrating digital tools. Through pilot testing in partner schools, we ensured the tools met diverse student needs. Pre-project research confirmed rapid shifts in digital policies, reinforcing the urgency of standardized, future-proof digital education strategies.

Objectives

The project aimed to enhance teachers’ digital competencies by integrating Web 3.0 tools, STEAM education, robotics coding, augmented reality (AR), 3D printing, and AI training. Educators received hands-on experience with ChatGPT, Arduino, and Smart RoboKit, supported by structured lesson plans for primary, secondary, and high school levels. To ensure accessibility, AR was prioritized over VR, allowing use on smartphones and tablets without high costs. Lesson plans were refined based on teacher feedback, and special permissions were secured to develop digital skills despite country-wide restrictions. Students engaged in self-directed learning using personal mobile devices, making digital education more inclusive and adaptable. Teachers shared best practices via a web platform and mobile app, providing ready-to-use courses. A comprehensive eBook was created to ensure sustainability and adaptability to future technological advancements.

Activities

In our project, we implemented a range of activities to enhance digital teaching in natural sciences. We developed and tested user-friendly digital tools designed to improve student engagement and support inclusive education. Training sessions and workshops were organized for educators to strengthen their digital competencies and familiarize them with innovative teaching methods. We facilitated collaborative exchanges among teachers, enabling the sharing of best practices and experiences. Additionally, we created educational materials and resources tailored to diverse learning needs, including those of students with learning difficulties. Regular evaluations and feedback sessions ensured continuous improvement of the tools and methodologies developed during the project.

Impact

Our project implemented a diverse set of activities to enhance digital teaching in natural sciences.
