We aimed to enhance vocational education for students with mental disabilities, including autism, by improving teaching capacities, creating innovative communication tools, and fostering international collaboration. Central to the project is the development of the 'SpeakUp' app, a digital tool to assist non-verbal students in communication, replacing outdated paper-based methods. Additionally, the digital 'SpeakUp Handbook' and a teacher’s 'My Special Diary' provide educators with modern methodologies, practices and strategies tailored to special education needs, while resources for families, like the app, aim to improve daily interactions. The project supports vocational and social integration, giving students the skills necessary to participate in society and the workforce. Collaboration between institutions in Greece, Turkey, Italy, and Romania will facilitate shared expertise and long-term partnerships. Knowledge dissemination through workshops, seminars, and social media ensures that project outcomes reach a broad audience. Finally, ongoing evaluation will measure impact, ensuring the project's success in enhancing education for students with disabilities.

The project aimed to enhance teaching capacities by equipping educators with modern tools and methods for working with students with severe disabilities, like mental retardation and autism as well as approaches and practices that experienced educators have developed. We created the 'SpeakUp' App, a digital communication app for non-verbal students, improving interaction with educators and families. We have developed the digital 'SreakUp Handbook' which offers methodologies and strategies for educators, and also 'My Special Diary' was introduced to document experienced educators' approaches to challenging student situations accompanied with the best practical practices. The project also focused on enhancing social and vocational integration skills for students to support their independence. International collaboration was fostered among institutions in Greece, Turkey, Italy, and Romania to share best practices. Resources, including the 'SpeakUp' app, were provided to families, and project outcomes were disseminated through workshops, eTwinning, and a website. Lastly, ongoing monitoring ensured the project’s objectives were met and its impact evaluated, with feedback refining future approaches.
