Enriching the professional development of VET educators

The EnVET project addresses the urgent need for enhanced digital and pedagogical skills among VET teachers, a challenge amplified by the COVID-19 crisis and its impact on labor market demands. In Spain, despite increasing participation in dual VET programs, trainers often lack the digital competencies required to meet current industry standards. Bulgaria faces difficulties with an ageing VET teaching workforce and a growing demand for improved digital proficiency. Meanwhile, North Macedonia’s reforms highlight the critical need for integrating work-based learning into vocational education. To tackle these challenges, EnVET introduced targeted 'training of trainers' programs, focusing on digital tools and work-based learning methods. These programs empower VET educators to deliver practical, market-relevant skills in digitally enhanced environments, bridging the gap between education and industry needs. Aligned with Erasmus+ priorities, the Bruges Communique, and the Osnabrück Declaration, the project fosters workforce adaptability and quality assurance in VET. By addressing digitalization challenges, EnVET supports local and European goals for transforming education and improving employability.

The project objectives are firmly rooted in EU priorities, addressing critical gaps in digital competence and employability through innovative teaching methodologies. The focus on aligning training with workforce demands ensures that VET educators are equipped to meet the quality standards and adaptability goals set forth by EU policies, including the recommendations of the Osnabrück Declaration for modernizing vocational education. The project focussed in particular on three core objectives: • Improving the digital competence of VET teachers helping them to effectively incorporate digital tools into real-life learning scenarios, making training relevant to the digital workplace. • Supporting work-based learning (WBL) through digital methods: The project emphasised innovative digital methods to facilitate learning in digital or blended environments. • Promoting inclusive professional development: EnVET supported a wide range of teachers, including those with little digital experience. This objective strengthened the inclusive impact of the project, as noted in the evaluation feedback, by providing accessible, customisable resources to a wide audience.
