Objectives

We had several objectives. First of all, to start the cooperation between the two partner organizations, as we do not want to limit ourselves to this one project in terms of joint work. The creation of a common band for the benefit of the charity concert was definitely one of the most significant goals.Furthermore, we wanted to achieve the development of young people's musical skills and show what kind of new opportunities playing music together can offer. Strengthening social responsibility was very prominent among our goals. According to our plans, we wanted to use the international cooperation, even if it took place between two Hungarian partners, to build relations between the mother country and the Transylvanian partner. By giving tasks between mobilities, we wanted to diversify the methodological palette of music education. We wanted to create the basis of a future, broader European collaboration. We wanted to gain knowledge and practical experience that could facilitate the implementation of a similar project with several partners later on.

Activities

We implemented three mobilities during the project. The first served to get to know each other, to select the members of the band, and to compile the expected programme of the future charity concert. The second was a longer, music camp-type meeting, which mostly consisted of long, but cheerful band rehearsals. The third one consisted of the final rehearsals of the planned charity concert and focused on the organization and performance of the concert itself. During the three meetings, it was possible to implement some leisure activities and organize cultural programmes. Between the mobilities, the participants also solved various tasks related to music, among which there were topics related to music history, popular pop music, and foreign languages. We didn't plan, but we also carried out detailed career guidance activities, because several students started thinking about continueing their studies in the field of music. The teachers involved in the project regularly shared their experiences with their colleagues. We also carried out effective dissemination activities.

Impact

The main objective of the project, the charity concert was organized. We managed to provide more support than expected to the orphanage of the Szentkerszty Stephanie Association. There were many other results on the way to the concert. The musical knowledge and skills of the students improved, and the teachers and members of the association began to use new methods. The possibilities of emotional education have expanded. The organization of the charity concert strengthened the sense of social responsibility in all interested stakeholders. Both partner organizations have gained extensive new contacts. The teacher training school's cooperation with parents and the city's cultural institutions became even closer, and the association involved the students of Budakeszi Nagy Sándor József High School in even more programmes. Working together with Csango traditionalists also provides new opportunities for the future. The common project of the mother country and the Transilvanian school strengthened the feeling of belonging together. The cultural programmes organized during the mobilities also enriched the participants with experiences. The possibility of a new, larger-scale project involving partners from several nations has been created.
