▶Objectives
The EmpowerME project aimed to promote gender equality in access to the labor market and education, as well as the empowerment of women. The general objectives of this project were: the creation of opportunities to raise awareness among young people through a structured training course focused on feminism and gender equality and through the creation of a tool to be used for educational purposes. This objective was achieved through the involvement of schools and and indirectly with non profit entities (ETS, ONG etc...) that work with the target group in question.
▶Activities
The project chose to promote two different types of courses: the first one linked to the concept of feminism from a historical and cultural point of view, so that the participants can understand the perspectives of past generations and the different historical stages of the movement, to have a 360° vision of the concept; the second course is linked to the concept of self-reflection and development of personal skills such as self-esteem, determination and self-awareness.
▶Impact
The Project aimed to combine an understanding of the culture of feminism with intercultural understanding, as well as provide young women with the necessary knowledge and skills for an evolving society. The EmpowerME project invested in disseminating information about the ideas underlying both past and contemporary feminism. In particular, it sought to explore intersectional feminism and shared the idea that awareness and knowledge on certain issues is an essential tool to counter gender discrimination and to promote equal rights and female empowerment.
