#HateTrackers Beyond Borders

Objectives The project aims at enlarging and empowering the community of #hatetrackers at European level in countries facing relevant online discrimination cases. The project will develop capacities, networking, knowledge and tools for operators and multipliers against online hate speech, while raising awareness and engaging vulnerable groups and individuals at local level to identify and act against hate crimes, both offline and online, through the intervention of Semiologycal Guerrilla Units. Activities Main project activities will be: - Development, Use and Dissemination of an App to: a) shield social media users from and b) combat online hate speech. - Creation in each country of a group of young people - Semiotic Guerrilla Units – that by using the freestyle game and the support of a linguistic specialist, SGUs will train themselves in building effective answers to fight hate speech and fake news. Impact The project expects to: 1) create a safe transnational virtual community of operators where confrontation, networking, mutual learning and experience-sharing on online and offline practices against hate speech 2) raise awareness on online hate speech to a larger public, potentially at risk of discriminations and hate speech crimes 3) erase offensive and hate contents in the main social media used by young people and potentially at-risk individuals; provide relevant data on hate speech crimes.
