Summary

Objectives

O1: Develop new teaching methods among a number of 18 teachers from 3 European schools as regards the integration of green skills in different lessons from the fields of technology, science, arts, literature, ICT, science within a period of 12 months and after the project. O2: Develop responsible attitudes towards the environment among a number of 54 students from 3 partner schools within a period of 12 months. O3: Develop key competences among the participant teachers and students, as part of the life long learning process.

Activities

The project included project management and local activities, a student exchange in Romania, a student exchange in Portugal and a student exchange in Turkey, each having a different topic related to the main theme of the project and a duration of 5 days. Project management activities took place in every phase of the project : preparation ( with promotion of the project at schools level and in the local media, the selection of students and teachers, the preparation of the mobilities, communication with the partners and local stakeholders, monitoring and measuring the impact of the activities, etc), dissemination (with articles published in the local media and events organised in schools or in the local community). As for the mobilities, they included presentations, discussions, meetings with different specialists, a number of workshops: science workshops, Book of nature workshops which aimed at creating both an eco-friendly and a digital book, music workshops, biology workshop, cultural visits, etc. The project also included a number of local activities, carried out in the period between the student exchanged that included, creative recycling, greening, plating, participation in local contests, etc.

Impact

The tangible results were: - the digital and printed books created by the students and their teachers during the Book of Nature Day. - an ECO THEATRE play - a raise awareness campaign regarding the importance of recycling/reducing/reusing - four experiments during the Science of Nature Day - 24 eco-friendly musical instruments - a photo exhibition with the most beautiful natural places of Porto - 24 objects made of clay during the pottery workshops - 100 trees planted - a rain garden where different herbs and vegetables were planted - a project website - 12 lesson plans integrated lesson plans - a curriculum for the optional course „Competențe eco pentru o educație eco” (Eco competences for eco education) - a volunteering educational project „Adoptă un copăcel” (Adopt a little tree) - 2 partnerships with local stakeholders Intangible resources include: -Development of green skills by taking part in transdisciplinary ecological education activities in classrooms and outdoors -Knowledge gained about reuse, reduce and recycle - Development of eco-friendly behaviour - Development of key competences of the selected teachers and students
