Enhancement of the learning module for secondary vocational education within the Nursing Assistant program, titled Home Economics, along with the publication of a teacher’s guide for teaching basic and advanced content related to the Home Economics module. Alignment of education with labor market needs, addressing the growing demand for personnel trained to assist the elderly at home due to an aging society and the deinstitutionalization of care. Improvement of competencies for students with fewer opportunities, equipping them to adequately prepare for employment, gain international experience, and boost their self-confidence and skills. Exchange of experiences with a partner school in Croatia (SŠ Čakovec) and create a teacher’s guide. Integration of modern pedagogical approaches and digital competencies for teachers and students, accompanied by the development of a teacher’s guide with teaching guidelines. Collaboration with DEOS, an organization providing elderly care, to gain insights into practical needs for home assistance and ensure the high-quality implementation of the module. The European Union is facing an aging society, where an increasing number of elderly residents will require home care assistance. Consequently, more institutions are providing home care services with personnel of varying levels of training. In the labor market, those who perform home care often possess informal education (through various courses, etc.) and are frequently insufficiently trained. In Slovenia, secondary schools offer a three-year educational program for Nursing Assistants. This program equips students with skills for delivering quality healthcare services at home but does not cover home assistance tasks, as this need did not exist when the program was originally developed. Traditionally, graduates of this program were employed in healthcare facilities and nursing homes. However, there has been a recent surge in demand for personnel trained to provide home care assistance. In response, two schools, in collaboration with DEOS (which monitors labor market needs), have developed an updated learning module and a teacher’s guide. As educational institutions in the field of healthcare, the schools recognize their social responsibility to address societal needs. hey strive to improve the quality of life for the elderly.
