Objectives

We aimed to empower drivers who have undergone training to independently monitor their stress levels, mental and physical health, and gain a level of awareness where they can report any adverse conditions in their working environment to their superiors throughout their professional lives.

Activities

In our project, materials that partners can use in vocational training were produced and made available for open use online. Data were collected using the Perceived Stress Scale-14 (ASO-14) for bus drivers. Brochures stating that they did not need any equipment were distributed, and posture and relaxation exercises were practiced by the training commission. A user-friendly e-learning platform containing video training materials was created. The group to be applied was kept under constant follow-up with the monitoring form prepared by the research commission. A short reminder message was sent to the participants' mobile phones in the morning and evening to do their exercises for four weeks. Afterwards, ASO-14 was administered to the participants. Future Focus company (Malta) ensured the participation of drivers with high stress loads, working in areas with the highest traffic, to participate in the project. They translated the training materials and e-learning platform. Trainer training was given to the Malta education commission by the Turkish commission. The research process was carried out simultaneously in Malta and Türkiye. The data obtained from Turkey and Malta were brought together and the preliminary and final evaluation.

Impact

Training Materials were Prepared for the Training to be Given to Bus Drivers and an e-learning platform was created. Suitable populations were found in Türkiye and Malta and the Perceived Stress Level was determined. The language translation of the e-learning platform was made by the Malta commission members. Trainer training was given to Malta commission members by Turkish commission members. In Turkey and Malta, bus drivers were given theoretical and practical training on exercises that will help them gain stress management skills. The practices of bus drivers were monitored in Türkiye and Malta. The stress levels of bus drivers in Turkey and Malta were measured with ASO14 after the 4-week implementation period was completed. The data obtained from Turkey and Malta were brought together and the preliminary and final evaluation surveys were interpreted statistically. The perceived stress levels of the trained drivers were compared with their pre-training stress levels. It was observed that the differences were statistically significant. The pre-training stress level of drivers in Turkey was measured at 23.64 and it decreased to 18.17 afterward. In Malta, it decreased from 29.83 to 24.02.
