The aim of the project was to strengthen social skills through joint music-making, intercultural exchange, and teamwork. By gaining personal experiences in an international context, students were encouraged to develop a stronger awareness of European values and diversity. Playing together in a shared band served as a cultural bridge, promoting mutual respect, a sense of responsibility, and collaboration. At the same time, it supported the development and enhancement of the students’ musical talents. The project’s presence on Instagram was also intended to have an external impact by raising awareness among young people outside the core group about European cooperation, diversity, and cultural exchange.

Online and in-person rehearsals were held in advance. Project Week in Corinth, Greece (April 20–26, 2024): Joint rehearsals at the local music school, two public final concerts (professionally recorded), classroom observations in Greek music education, a visit to Athens including the Acropolis, a shared island excursion, communal meals and music-making at the school, and exchanges with Greek students and teachers. Project Week in Austria (April 27 – May 3, 2025): Joint rehearsals and concerts at BORG Kindberg, the HTL Linz schoolyard, the traditional Maypole celebration in Neuhofen, and for the Austrian-Greek Cultural Community in Linz. Additional activities included a visit to the Neuhofen music school and cultural excursions to Vienna, Salzburg (Mozart Museum and birthplace), Linz (Brucknerhaus and city tour), and Hallstatt (salt mine tour and lake cruise). A first-year class at HTL1 presented Austria in English as part of a project with their teachers. Media Coverage: HTL students documented the Austrian week through photography and video. The project’s Instagram account gained over 800 followers and was linked to the school’s main account with over 2,000 followers.

The project produced several tangible results: In Greece, two public concerts were held, while in Austria, two school concerts and two public performances took place. All events were well received by the audience and made the musical exchange clearly visible. The newly created Instagram channel quickly gained over 800 followers and was linked to the school’s main account with around 2,000 followers, ensuring a strong digital outreach. Through making music together, numerous friendships developed between Austrian and Greek students, along with valuable insights into different musical approaches. Participants enhanced their musical skills and deepened their understanding of cultural diversity. Overall, the project fostered lasting awareness of cultural differences and similarities, and strengthened the participants’ European identity. In addition to the planned topics, students engaged deeply with issues of diversity not only during rehearsals but also in their free time. As a result, tolerance and openness emerged as key themes throughout the project.
