The "My Actions Count" project aimed to empower students aged 14 - 19 to actively engage in civic and environmental initiatives by providing them with interactive learning content, practical tools and intercultural exchange opportunities. The project sought to foster a sense of agency among students, enabling them to address complex issues like climate change and social responsibility and take direct action. Objectives included enhancing knowledge of European values, citizenship and sustainability, promoting collaboration between Austrian and Spanish schools and equipping teachers with effective teaching approaches. By implementing student-led projects, the initiative aimed to empower students and create lasting, positive change as well as develop key competences such as creativity, critical thinking and entrepreneurship.

We implemented a diverse set of activities, starting with workshop planning and developing the workbook, teaching materials, social media account and information to be added onto the websites of the partners. This was followed by various workshop formats held in Austria and Spain, focusing on environmental education, civic engagement and European values. Students developed and pitched project ideas, which were uploaded for a digital voting process. Two student projects were selected for implementation throughout the school year, supported by teachers and beSonder. Additionally, students carried out two main mobility activities between Austria and Spain to enhance intercultural dialogue and project collaboration.

The project produced a wide range of tangible outputs, including a comprehensive workbook, further teaching materials, webinars and train-the-trainer activities. Students created different (in total 12) project ideas, of which two were selected for implementation in both schools. Mobility exchanges between Austria and Spain resulted in intensified transnational and intercultural exchange, whereby as a concrete output over 10 student videos were produced, showcasing their ideas on the project topic and raising awareness of European values. The project sub-websites on the consortium partner websites, social media presence and shared resources ensure sustainability and ongoing impact, fostering civic engagement and environmental responsibility.
