Objectives

As part of CNAP, site-specific questions in relation to neighborhood, district, environment, city, sites, etc. were proposed: What are the local characteristics and/or problems (aesthetic, cultural, political, economic, etc.) that the students are dealing with in Vienna and Kassel? How can a particular place be sensually and aesthetically explored and how do young people relate themselves to specific places? How does the respective individual and collective perception of space, shape social memory and thus the resulting (group) identity? By raising these questions, the aim was to create awareness and understanding of how collaborative artistic and creative work can be practiced and how creative and/or artistic processes can be embedded in communities to achieve collective goals. A further motivation was to intervene, strengthen and co-create social, communal, aesthetic and artistic content. Not only to show the amount of work und passion the pupils put in their art, but also to raise the students´confidence in their own abilities and to be appreciated as forming members of their community. The full spectrum of artistic content created by the students for the Erasmus+ Project CNAP was presented to the public by an art show.

Activities

CNAP was divided into several phases over the course of the 2023/24 school year: • I & II: Presentation Erasmus+, Preparation & introduction to the artistic, creative subject area • III: Exchange meeting in Kassel (October 17th, 2023 - October 20th, 2023) • IV: Reflection on the 1st meeting & further planning (work in progress) • V & VI: Welcome party & exchange meeting in Vienna (13.05. - 17.05.2024) • VII: art show / Vernissage • VIII: Follow-up phase The focus of the activities and phases mentioned above was, on the one hand, on networking and cross-border exchange between the students from Vienna and Kassel, as well as the associated collaborative artistic work, which was presented at the vernissage on 16 May 2024. On the other hand, the interlinked artistic work and the associated phases promoted skills such as teamwork/team building, digital networking, learning discursive skills and practicing attitudes and values.

Impact

On Thursday, May 16th, 2024, the art exhibition ‘Changing Perspectives - Turned Upside Down!’ was held at Gallery GB* 10 (Quellenstraße 149, 1100 Vienna).
