▶Objectives
The main objective of this project was to raise awareness for inclusion in the hospitality industry and provide a simple, accessible introduction to the topic. We aimed to offer a comprehensive yet practical resource that enables accommodation providers to understand, implement, and benefit from inclusive practices. By developing an easy-to-use online course, we wanted to ensure that businesses—especially small and medium-sized enterprises—could access a broad range of practical, actionable information without requiring extensive prior knowledge. The course covers both guest accessibility and inclusive workplace environments, helping businesses create more welcoming and diverse hospitality experiences. Through this project, we sought to bridge the knowledge gap, reduce uncertainties surrounding inclusion, and encourage a long-term commitment to inclusive practices in the tourism sector.
▶Activities
We carried out key activities to develop and implement an inclusive training program for the hospitality sector: - Networking & Stakeholder Engagement: We connected with experts and tourism professionals to gather insights and raise awareness. - Research & Analysis: We examined best practices and legal frameworks to ensure a solid knowledge base. - Stakeholder Sensitization: Targeted outreach helped increase awareness of inclusion in the industry. - Development of an Online Course: We created a structured, user-friendly training covering guest accessibility and workplace inclusion. - Creation of Learning Materials: A workbook, checklists, quizzes, transcriptions, and videos made learning more interactive. - Setup of the Learning Platform: The course was made flexible and accessible online. - Testing & Refinement: Feedback from hospitality professionals and people with disabilities helped optimize the content. - Dissemination & Promotion: We introduced the course through social media, tourism networks, and professional associations for maximum reach.
▶Impact
The project resulted in a comprehensive online course featuring expert videos, workbooks, quizzes, and learning assessments. The course provides a practical introduction to inclusion in hospitality, with a total duration of two hours (excluding in-depth exercises). Additionally, we strengthened our network by engaging with stakeholders, industry professionals, and inclusion experts, fostering awareness and collaboration. To maximize impact, we published articles and contributions in industry media, ensuring broader dissemination of the project's key findings and resources.
