▶Objectives
The project’s overarching goal was to empower caregivers—both formal and informal—to better cope with the psychological demands of their roles through a structured, accessible, and practical resilience training program. We wanted to equip caregivers with tools and strategies to safeguard their mental health and foster a balanced approach to their challenging work environments. This overall goal was reached by conducting an in-depth analysis of resilience needs in caregiving; developing an engaging, competence-oriented online training course; and creating supplementary material, our 'One Minute Wonder' setcards, that offer quick, actionable exercises for daily use. By addressing the mental health challenges that caregivers face, the project seeked to improve their well-being, reduce burnout and attrition, and support the caregiving sector in adapting to changing labor market demands. Ultimately, the project aspired to create a sustainable, healthier workforce capable of meeting the needs of care receivers effectively.
▶Activities
The project implemented a series of well-structured activities to achieve its goals. The initial phase involved a comprehensive analysis of existing research and literature on resilience in caregiving, coupled with interviews with experts and surveys of caregivers to capture real-world challenges and needs. These findings were synthesized into a detailed report, serving as the foundation for subsequent activities. Using this knowledge, a curriculum for an online resilience training course was developed, designed to be accessible, practical, and user-friendly. The course includes 10 structured learning units covering essential topics such as resilience-building strategies, self-care, and managing stress in caregiving environments. Additionally, the project introduced 'One Minute Wonder' setcards—short, easy-to-implement exercises that promote resilience in daily life. These materials were piloted with caregivers in Austria, Spain, and Italy to ensure their effectiveness and usability. Dissemination efforts, including the creation of a project website and hosting dissemination events, ensured that the resources reached a broad audience, including caregivers, organizations, and educational institutions all over Europe.
▶Impact
The project successfully delivered three key outputs: 1. Comprehensive Report: An in-depth analysis of resilience in caregiving, incorporating insights from research, expert interviews, and surveys. This report serves as a foundational document for understanding the challenges and opportunities in building caregiver resilience. 2. Curriculum and Online Training Course: A curriculum-based online course with 10 learning and one introduction unit, designed to equip formal and informal caregivers with information, practical tools and strategies for self-care and stress management. The course is freely accessible in English, German, Spanish and Italian on the online learning platform and the project website, additionally an open word version is available on the website for easy translations in other languages ensuring inclusivity and widespread impact. 3. One Minute Wonder Setcards: A series of visually engaging, easy-to-use cards featuring short exercises that formal and informal caregivers can integrate into their daily routines to boost resilience and mental health.
