▶Objectives
The aim was to make the sculpting profession more attractive and effective by integrating digital and sustainable (green) skills into the training programmes. The prerequisite was a careful analysis of the needs of teachers, students and art businesses in order to identify the current challenges. So we strived to develop cost-efficient, innovative and practice-oriented toolboxes for the acquisition of digital skills, tailored to a heterogeneous target group of art and craft-oriented students and teachers in NQF 5, so that they can effectively use digital and green skills for their artistic and professional practice and marketing. These new toolboxes were to be tested in a live symposium. Students from the two schools were to work together artistically on sculptures and then present them online (3D) and on site. The toolboxes were to be made available free of charge in the long term in order to motivate other educational institutions to integrate this content into their teaching programmes. To this end, the project results were to be passed on to educational institutions and specialist groups in order to promote the transfer of knowledge and the implementation of new learning methods.
▶Activities
The pedagogical and organisational environment of the participating schools from the craft/artistic sector is characterised by a shortage of resources, particularly in terms of personnel. At the same time, the requirements of the labour market for teaching contemporary skills in the areas of digitalisation and sustainability are increasing. For this reason, the project partners have joined forces to develop innovative teaching and learning concepts based on peer learning and learning from experts that address this problem in the most resource-efficient way possible and are also easy to implement with other schools. The students in the area have a strong hands-on mentality and come from heterogeneous educational backgrounds with different previous experiences in digital education. It was therefore our aim to develop offers for teaching digitalisation skills that go hand in hand with practical sculptural work as part of a cross-border intensive training course. Another need behind this project was the concrete sculptural collaboration between two schools from different countries as well as the desire of the teachers involved to get to better know the other school system and their educational paths.
