Forest of the future: digital tools for learners to foster CCF approach
▶Summary
We aim at developing the skills of forest managers and future forest professionals (students from sylviculture or forestry fields of study, in vocational schools and higher education institutions)...
▶Objectives
We aim at developing the skills of forest managers and future forest professionals (students from sylviculture or forestry fields of study, in vocational schools and higher education institutions) in the new forest management approach: the Continuous Cover Forestry (CCF). We ambition to develop pedagogical, digital and easy-to-use tools in order to develop their autonomy of the implementation of CCF approach in their (future) practices.
▶Activities
The approach will integrate several specific activities, targeting the development of a Marteloscope and Travailloscope, integrating the CCF approach. After a research phase and development of the decision scheme (WP2), the partners will develop and test both tools integrated into an App that can be used on the field (WP3). Students will contribute to the testing phases of the tools developed and benefit from field-trip abroad to exchange with peers on CCF and visit the forest stands (WP4).
▶Impact
The main result of the project is the creation and development of an App Marteloscope/Travailloscope in English, French and Czech integrating the CCF approach in order for forest learners and teachers/trainers to benefit from a digital tool to experiment this approach in a virtual and practical way ; and for professionals to be guided in the decision process for a sustainable approach of the forest management, in autonomy.
