The main objective of this project was to to bridge the gap between labour market needs and the untapped potential of immigrant communities, using coding as both a practical skill, to not only offer employability opportunities for migrants but also to fill in the gaps in the job market for programmers. We offered the migrants an alternative employment opportunity for them, helped them with their linguistic integration, empowered them to feel they are capable of attending a new professional direction. Most importantly we aimed to equip refugees and immigrants with in-demand digital skills, making them feel confident in using it for economical integration. We also made training resources that were accessible despite language, financial, or cultural obstacles, including translations into major migrant languages, with is unorthodox of national VET schools. With this we created sustainable, shareable resources – Develop course materials, instructional videos (with subtitles in Arabic,Ukranian,Persian/Dari,Frech, Dutch and Russian) and an E-book that could be freely used by individuals and organisations working with disadvantaged groups, ensuring long-term impact beyond the project’s duration.

We applied for this project because we identified a significant gap in the labour market for skilled programmers, particularly in Python, alongside the persistent challenges faced by refugees and immigrants in accessing quality vocational education. While AI and digital technologies are advancing rapidly, many newcomers to Europe, especially those with language barriers, limited financial resources, or interrupted educational backgrounds are usually excluded from these opportunities. The project directly addressed two urgent needs: 1. Economic integration of immigrants and refugees – Many face unemployment despite having potential, due to lack of recognised qualifications or language barriers. Coding can overcome language barriers. 2. Digital literacy and equal access – There is a growing demand for coding skills across Europe, yet access to affordable, tailored training for disadvantaged groups are not easily accessible. With this we promote social and economical inclusion, improved employability, and empower migrants to contribute actively to their host communities and local economies.
