Objectives

The need for palliative care begins early in the course of a life-threatening illness and only when implemented in time, the beneficial impact of palliative care for the patients, their close ones, and society can reach its full potential. The objective of the NursEduPal@IMPACT team is to improve access to quality palliative care through education: by empowering nurses and their educators to show leadership and act as palliative care influencers that promote good practices in their surroundings.

Activities

The NursEduPal@IMPACT team will create a blended learning trajectory for their Community of Practice: a group of learners consisting of nursing students, educators, and nurses from different clinical settings. Through e-courses, life training, and mentoring sessions of the concentric circle programme, the participants will acquire knowledge, self-efficacy, and influencer abilities and transform into professionals with clinical, moral-ethical and professional leadership in palliative care.

Impact

The NursEduPal@IMPACT learning trajectory, including all learning/training materials, will be freely available and disseminated through the project’s website. By empowering the participants of our programme, the palliative care influencers will mentor peers, impact others within their sphere of influence, and initiate changes improving integration of quality palliative care in their daily practice resulting in proper care for patients with life-limiting conditions and their families.
