▶Objectives
The TRIP-LED project aims to achieve several key objectives to support tourism-related SMEs and individuals in the sector. First, it seeks to enhance the digital readiness and capacity of SMEs by developing an experience design-focused learning platform equipped with digital tools, skills, and knowledge to help them adapt to the evolving digital landscape and create immersive, responsible tourism experiences. Second, it fosters skill development and professional growth by offering customised learning modules that address the unique needs of individuals in the tourism sector, enabling them to advance their competencies in experience design and digital marketing. Third, it strengthens the capacity of educators and staff by providing specialised training programs that emphasise digital competencies, innovative teaching methods, and sustainable practices. Finally, the project encourages a holistic approach to experience design by integrating sustainable principles and green practices, inspiring responsible tourism while contributing to environmental preservation and economic resilience.
▶Activities
The TRIP-LED project implemented several key activities: 1. Handbook of Best Immersive and Sustainable Tourism Practices: Comprehensive research was conducted, supported by stakeholder interviews, to identify challenges and propose actionable solutions. The findings were documented in a dedicated Report. 2. Development of the TRIP-LED Platform: A user-friendly digital learning platform equipped with tools to enhance digital readiness and capacity for tourism SMEs was designed and launched. 3. Learning Modules: Six fundamental innovative experience design learning modules were developed, tailored to the unique needs of individuals and SMEs in the tourism sector. 4. Design Navigator and Process Navigator: These additional structured tools were created to offer enhanced guidance on the experience design process based on feedback gathered from selected stakeholders during the platform piloting. 5. Workshop and Pilot Test: A workshop was held to pilot the platform, gather user feedback, and refine its content and functionality. 6. Project Management and Dissemination: The project was effectively managed through regular meetings and a communication strategy, ensuring the dissemination of project progress and results to stakeholders
▶Impact
The TRIP-LED project delivered several concrete outputs and results. We developed the Handbook of Best Immersive and Sustainable Tourism Practices, featuring 30 documented best practices, 10 stakeholder interviews, and a comprehensive Report on challenges and actionable solutions for the tourism sector. The TRIP-LED digital learning platform was successfully launched, providing an intuitive and user-friendly interface for tourism SMEs, including integrated tools for experience design and digital transformation. Six customised experience design learning modules were created, focusing on innovative approaches to sustainable and immersive tourism practices. Additionally, two new resources, the TRIP-LED Design Navigator and Process Navigator, were developed based on stakeholder feedback during the platform’s pilot testing. The pilot involved selected users, and the results were collected feedback responses that informed platform refinements. A workshop was held to pilot the platform, gather user feedback, and refine its content and functionality. The project also achieved effective dissemination through regular meetings, a project website, social media updates, and stakeholder outreach, ensuring broad awareness and accessibility.
